We're very excited about Valencia.
Not only is this picturesque coastal town a popular weekend hotspot, it's also home to one of the best value, utterly moreish whites we've tasted in a long while. In the 17th century residents had to pay the King an extra tax because of the superiority of their wines ...
That tax has now gone ...
but you can still taste the quality! Gold medal winemaker Juan Pico Lozano (who makes the Baron de Turis red) picks local Malvasia and Moscatel grapes from vineyards surrounded by orange trees.
The nose is deliciously aromatic and each glass is brimful of tongue-tingling, ripe citrus fruit.
No wonder it's the lunchtime white of choice in Valencia's smart harbour bars and restaurants.
